This kitchen was purpose built to compliment a very old and picturesqe cottage. The client was very much involved in the design and layout from day one. A traditional look was required, but that had to go hand in hand with the working enviroment demanded by the modern day household. I constructed all of the base carcases from 12mm WBP Ply , and these were both screwed and glued for extra strength. All the carcases I build are either in WBP ply or solid timber. I tend to steer away from composite materials such as MDF, as they just don't stand up to the job over time, especially in humid areas. My frames that front the carcases are always solid timber, morticed and tennoned with Epoxy glue. The doors can be of any design, but again all are morticed and tennoned frames. The inserts in these particular doors are 6mm WBP ply. Shelving is again to a clients choice, and if it doesn't effect the overall construction the ideas are endless. This particular kitchen was fitted with solid iroko tops but again the choice in the market place today is vast. As are fitted hobs, ovens, dishwashers etc. Of course if the existing units are still serviceable then these can be incorporated within a new kitchen. I have done this many times.
