Over the years I've carried out many loft conversions on different sorts of property. As is well known, a loft conversion can add an extra dimension. This is especially true when there is little or no chance of an extension to the living space within the property boundries. Of course there are some limitations regarding a conversion, mainly the amount of usable roof space, ceiling/floor joist load bearing, and whether or not the roof construction is of traditional design or trusses. On most older properties the use of A/frames and purlins will lend itself easily to the fitting of insulation and Velux Roof Lights. With a detailed inspection the feasibility of a loft conversion can be determined. Most projects are possible though, some requiring a little more ingenuity than others. The conversion in the photo's was carried out on a pre-war bungalow that needed an en-suite bedroom with lot's of living space. |
